China Doll
China Doll
A female porcelain doll with blue glass eyes, stiff cloth body, and dark hair arranged in a center part and cut short. Doll is dressed (inner-most to outer-most) in yellowed pantaloons trimmed with lace; nude-colored cotton stockings; red faux-leather shoes with pink fabric bows and metal buckles; a cream colored petticoat with bands and eyelet at bottom; and a dress of pale ivory with maroon trim at the waist, sleeves, neck, and hem.

Correspondence to Mary E. Welch, 1859-1881.
This collection includes nine letters written from Ann Mulheran in Seltanaveeny [Ireland]. Ann had apparently worked for the Welch/Walsh family. Her letters provide news from Ireland, comments about the American Civil War, and her plans to emigrate to Australia. There are also thirteen letters written by Mary Welch's daughter Elizabeth "Lizzie" Welch at school in Sheffield, Mass., circa 1865, and three letters written by her son Frank Welch in 1881.
Dutch Halberd Head
A full-sized early 17th century halberd head, decorated with stylized mermaids and armed mermen at the cross, and mounted on a modern wooden pole. Said to have been used in the processions of Massachusetts Colonial Governors.
Earl Carnes Munn papers, 1933-1981.
Genealogical correspondence and research notes on the Munn, Meserve (also spelled Meservey, Meservy), and allied families, particularly those of Carnes, Casey, Clayton, and Webster, 1670-1981. Research on the Meserve, Carnes, and allied families dates from Clement Meserve, who immigrated to Portsmouth, NH from England in 1670. Concluding the collection is correspondence, bills, receipts, and memoranda generated by Munn during his genealogical investigations, 1933-1980.
Elizabeth Royall
Considered the earliest surviving post-mortem portrait in North America, this portrait is believed to depict Elizabeth Royall, daughter of Isaac Royall Jr. of Medford, Mass. at the time of her death around 1747. She is shown lying in bed in a nightgown, framed in blue curtains.
