Scope and Contents
Compiled abstracts indicate that there were once over five hundred items relating to the clan. Over the years, however, many muniments and their seals were removed from their storage chest. Fewer than one hundred now remain. The remaining documents date from 1369 to 1698, are written on parchment or paper, and include charters, seisins, discharges, contracts, letters, marriage contracts, and other instruments. Texts are in Latin, Old Scots, French, or English. An abstract, in English, appears on most documents. For further information, see The Blairs of Balthayock and Their Cadets, 1150-1850.
