Collection consists of correspondence, deeds and other records of land transfer, surveyor's plans, bills, receipts, and a diary. The main part of the collection is the papers of Joseph Peirce (1745-1828) and his son Joseph Hardy Peirce (1773-1832) who were agents of the Twenty Associates Land Company (officially called the Twenty Associates of the Lincolnshire Company) disposing of 100,000 acres of land in Maine centered on Camden and Hope.
