Frederick Lewis Weis papers
Scope and Contents
Correspondence, genealogies, biographies, charts, notes, and other papers, relating to the families of Weis and his wife, Elizabeth W. (Stone) Weis (born 1904), chiefly residents of Lancaster, Sterling, Sudbury, and Athol, Massachusetts. The collection includes ancestors in England and elsewhere in New England; 119 allied families including Atherton, Blake, Brown/Browne, Kendall, Little, Pierce, Richardson, Southworth, Wheelock, and Whitcomb; and records of First Church of Christ, Lancaster, Massachusetts, reflecting Weis's duties as clergyman and its affiliate, Chocksett Church. Persons represented in the collection include Christopher Browne (d. 1519), Samuel Kendall (1682-1764), Thomas Little (d. 1672), Robert Pierce (d. 1665), Benjamin Richardson (1732-1821), Thomas Southworth (1616-1669), Constant Southworth (1614-1679), Ralph Wheelock (1600-1684), and Asa Whitcomb (1718-1804).

Biographical / Historical
Rev. Dr. Frederick Lewis Weis, son of John Peter Carl Weis and Georgina Lewis, was born 22 August 1895 in Cranston, Rhode Island. He was minister of the First Church of Christ in Lancaster, Massachusetts from 1929 to 1951. His historical and genealogical interests resulted in memberships in several organizations, including the American Antiquarian Society. He was a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society from 1936-1937 and from 1952-1966. He was also a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists (F.A.S.G.).
Weis married Elizbeth Williams Stone (born 1904), and they had two children: Robert Pomeroy and Virginia Stone. He died 11 April 1966 [Memoir in Register 120:228].
