Arthur Enoch Howlett papers, 1959-1969.
Scope and Contents
Contains correspondence and research notes on the descendants of Andrew Elliot (bap. 1627-1703), who immigrated to Beverly, Massachusetts from England in 1668. The notes includes extracts from Bible records (as well as the title page from an original 1801 Bible), state census records, ships' lists, wills and deeds. This is followed by a series of vital records from New England and Quebec on Elliot descendants. There is also research on 155 families allied to the Elliot family and a small amount of material on Elliots not related to those who descend from Andrew Elliot.

Biographical / Historical
Lt. Col. Arthur E. Howlett (d. 1969), of New York City, was a chemical engineer following his service in the U.S. Army. One of his avocations was genealogical research, in particular, of Andrew Elliot, from whom he descended. Mr. Howlett was a member of NEHGS from 1955 until his death in 1969.
